Annual Stud Visit

The 2007 Gwent Area Stud visit took members to the Maesmynach Stud of Welsh Cobs, based at Cribyn near Lampeter. Unfortunately the available date clashed with Fayre Oaks, by unfortunately we mean for the absent members, fortunately possibly for Eric Davies and Family because they would have been inundated.

The Maesmynach Stud is famous for the numbers of quality animals that they breed, most of them being over 15hh and some reaching 16hh+.  The attributes that struck members was the depth of body, good bone, excellent conformation and the ability to move freely.  Potential vendors appreciate these qualities with the result that Eric has a tremendous market base for these wonderful animals.  Suffice to say you do not see a Maesmynach Cob being sold at auction by Eric. The Cobs have had success in many varied disciplines and won prestigious awards.

The mood of members returning on the coach was one of respect that they had witnessed a special day with a wonderful display of animals and a superb welcome afforded to them.  Many thanks are due to Eric, Nicola and Family and all of the people involved who helped to make it a special day.

Diolch yn fawr to Teulu Davies from The Gwent Area Association
